Prof. Sardar Mohammad Ali Ayaz Sadiq is the Head of the Institute at Sardar Trust Eye Hospital and affiliated institutes. He completed his MBBS from King Edward Medical University and finished an ophthalmology residency at Mayo Hospital/King Edward Medical University and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and strabismus at Alder Hey Hospital, Liverpool, and Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He retired as the Professor at the Institute of Ophthalmology, King Edward Medical University, and is now the Head of the Institute, which has grown to become one of the busiest ophthalmology centers in the city.
Prof Ali Ayaz’s clinical and research interests revolve around the diagnosis and treatment of complex strabismus. In addition to numerous peer-reviewed publications, he is the author of the book Ophthalmology Explained, and his lecture series is available free of charge on YouTube for ophthalmologists-in-training around the world. He is the past Editor of the journal Ophthalmology Pakistan. He has played a pivotal role in developing pediatric eye health services across the country, and serves on multiple health advisory boards, including General Secretory at Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology of Pakistan (APOP), Deputy Provincial Coordinator at National Program for Prevention and Control of Blindness, Subcommittee for Universal Health Insurance Program, Federal Task Force on Technical Health Matters and Global Security, National Cataract Task Force and Subcommittee on Pediatric Cataract Surgery Guidelines.
He is a recipient of the Distinguished Services Award by the Association of Pediatric Ophthalmology Pakistan and has been awarded a Gold Medal for Excellence in Ophthalmic Education by the Ophthalmological Society of Pakistan.
