Sardar Trust Eye Hospital is proud to offer a comprehensive Residency Program in Ophthalmology, recognized by the College of Physicians & Surgeons Pakistan (CPSP). Designed for medical graduates committed to specializing in eye care, our program provides rigorous clinical training, academic learning, and hands-on surgical experience in a supportive, patient-centered environment.
The Sardar Trust Ophthalmology Residency Training Program is a four-year journey designed to equip future ophthalmologists with comprehensive clinical and surgical skills. Applications open each year in November/December and can be submitted through our hospital website. Applicants complete an online form and upload the required documents; shortlisted candidates may be invited for one or two rounds of interviews. Training officially begins in February.
In the first six months, residents gain hands-on experience across a variety of settings — from vision and clinical screening rooms to diagnostic ophthalmology, the Emergency Department, operating rooms, and resident teaching sessions — ensuring a strong foundation for their residency.
Our innovative surgical curriculum offers extensive hands-on experience in cataract, strabismus, corneal and refractive, glaucoma, vitreoretinal, oculoplastic, and trauma (open globe) procedures. With guidance from expert faculty, residents achieve strong surgical exposure across both comprehensive and subspecialty areas.
Training includes regular structured one-on-one sessions with faculty, as well as independent practice opportunities.
As a Sardar Trust Ophthalmology trainee, you are strongly encouraged to collaborate with faculty to pursue novel scientific and clinical investigations. Many residents publish first-author publications in top-tier journals.

The residency program is open to candidates who have completed their MBBS and passed the FCPS-I examination in Ophthalmology. Selection is based on academic performance and a structured interview.
